Directions

We meet at Santa Claus Beach on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and Bates Beach (Backside Rincon) on Tuesday and Thursdays

Hours: 9AM-3PM (except Friday pick up at 2 PM due to traffic)

Santa Claus Beach Directions (M,W,F):

Take Exit 88 for Santa Claus Ln (about 13 miles south of Santa Barbara). Our camp is at the north end of the beach, closest to Santa Barbara, we'll meet you near the little parking area right there.

Bates Beach/Upper Rincon Directions (T,Th): From the north, take the Bates Road Exit (easy to miss if you're not really looking for it) and make a sharp RIGHT at the end of the ramp. Head into the upper lot and meet you near the picnic tables or if you're late, take the long ramp down to the beach :-) (some people accidentally go to Rincon Point, so make sure that you head to the parking lot UP the hill)

Santa Claus Beach Dropoff:

Upper Rincon/Bates Beach Dropoff:

Daily Rhythm:

9:00   We come together for a name game and/or natural history, then we’re off for a wander down the beach through tidepools, or surfing, kayaking, sand castles or one of many other fun activities.
11:00   Snack, water, sunscreen plus a story or natural history lesson, then back to our activities
1:15    Same as 11:00, these breaks from the sun under the shade are very important!
2:30   We gather to review, reflect and give thanks
3:00    Adios Amigos

Important Notes:

Please remember to officially check your child in each morning and out each afternoon. One of the counselors will be ready to assist
you. This is very important and we appreciate your help.

Please write your child’s name in the memo space on any checks for camp fees.
Checks need to be made out to Orca Camp SB LLC
If you pay in cash, make sure one of counselors puts your name and the amount on our cash envelope.

Camp Checklist:

Campers need to bring their own snack, lunch and at least 1-2 QUARTS OF DRINKING WATER.
We eat and drink when we come out of the water, plus more sunscreen, a story, or marine bio lesson, at 11:00 and 1:15.
Please make sure you apply sunscreen before camp. We will make sure it gets slathered on twice more during the day!
Please label everything, we have an amazing lost and found department!

Especially important; a soft, wide brim hat with chin strap that can go in and out of the water, as well as a rash guard sun
protection shirt and similar pants if your child is fair skinned. With the warm sunny days and warm water we need to boost our

protection measures.
Bathing suit, towel, sunscreen, wide brim hat or visor, LAYERS of clothing for cool, foggy days
Rash guard or similar sun protection shirt (sold at surf shops, sporting goods stores),
and amphibious sandals/shoes, (no flip flops please) for tide pools and nature walks.
Wetsuit for those cool, foggy days, soft surfboard or boogey board if your child really wants to surf almost all day  ;-)
